Pie Face

Beginning with our study of integers and rational numbers, students in Mr. Brach and Ms. Rowden’s homeroom were given the challenge of studying the digits of Pi, one of the irrational numbers we talked about in class.  Over the course of 4 weeks, students were to study, independently, and memorize as many digits of Pi as they could.  On Pi day (March 14), students were tested individually in class to see how far they had gotten.  As a reward for their hard work, the top 4 winners between the two classes were given the chance to pie a teacher in the face.  The students really stepped up to the challenge and pushed themselves to learn as many digits as they could.  On the day of the challenge, each student was given the chance to recite the digits twice.  The top student was able to recite 160 digits of Pi, quite impressive.
